Custom Framing

Section image

FINI Frames specialises in providing one-on-one custom framing consultation. Courteous and knowledgeable, our staff have years of hands-on experience and are happy to work closely with the client to bounce ideas back and forth until the concept is perfect.

FINI Frames offers a diverse range of bespoke options for stained or painted finishes. We can also create custom mouldings to order.

Mat boards +

FINI offers a collection of 100% calcium carbonate buffered cotton rag mat board options to enhance and protect your artwork. Our studio is an authority on conservation framing, using only the best materials and reversible techniques to preserve your artworks for years to come.

Objects +

FINI is able to offer custom solutions to preserve and display your cherished items. Our services include shadowboxes, acrylic cases for three-dimensional objects, elegant frames for textiles, and specialised mounts for sculptural objects.

Mouldings +

FINI offers an extensive range of mouldings to suit any artwork, including classic wooden frames that provide a timeless appeal and sleek aluminium frames for a modern, minimalist look. We also specialise in creating shadowbox frames for three-dimensional objects and stretched canvases. Each frame is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and lasting protection for your pieces.

Dry Mounting +

Dry mounting is the process of affixing a photographic print or artwork to a firm substrate, ensuring absolute flatness to allow framing without any ripples or movement. Naturally, we offer a diversity of substrates to suit different requirements and budgets from Dibond aluminium composite panels to acid free foam core substrates. Our neutral archival film adhesive can act as a barrier between the artwork and non-archival substrates such as MDF (block mounting) when they are used, avoiding any chemical damage to artworks. Originally located in South Melbourne, our dry mounting business was established and operated by Colin Miller, an industry veteran with more than thirty years experience who is still mounting works with us in our new studio today.

Museum Framing

Section image

FINI Museum Frames are used extensively throughout Australia’s national and regional galleries and other institutions including state libraries and city councils. Our Museum frames feature a strengthening kit that includes aluminium corner inserts for added toughness and corner bracing for hanging. Accompanied by 3mm UV acrylic and core flute backing these frames are designed for their longevity and ability to travel on loan throughout the globe.

FINI Museum Frames are crafted from locally sourced and sustainable Australian timbers, with a variety of stained or painted finishes available.

Museum Backloading Frames +

A system developed in conjunction with the National Gallery of Australia in 2008, our backloading frames are designed to be used for decades. These specialised frames are built with an internal aluminium frame lined with a rubber gasket that can be slotted in and out providing a secure removable backing to interchange artwork. Along with our gallery strengthening kit, these highly specialised frames are practical for institutions, galleries or artists who wish to reuse frames over and over again. Available in a range of standard sizes, FINI Museum frames are available in a range of finishes, the most popular being our sustainably sourced Tasmanian Blackwood, and are provided with UV filtering acrylic glazing, cor flute backing and timber spacers if required.
